United States of Broadway | June 16, 2018 | Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall | 7pm

Portland, OR, May 30, 2018– From the windswept plains of Oklahoma and the whoopee spots of Chicago to the streets of Avenue Q and Skid Row, Broadway has magically transported audiences to every corner of the United States. Join the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus for an unforgettable musical journey across this great country. Filled with show-stopping show tunes from both stage and screen, United States of Broadway is a road trip that will leave you seeing red, white, and blue!

“Everyone wants to leave a concert humming a tune, and there’s SO much familiarity with musicals. I think the storytelling of musical theater also goes a long way to help people feel connected to this music. And the fact that it’s a genre that’s been popular for more than a century means that just about everyone has music they love from their generation. Our music will span Irving Berlin to Lin-Manuel Miranda, and lots in between!”

– Bob Mensel, PGMC Artistic Director

“I can’t think of a genre of music more American that Broadway!  It’s like taking the American Eagle, Apple Pie and Hot Dogs and putting them all together!  It doesn’t get any better than that!”

-Rick Jung, PGMC Executive Director
